Before you send us anything
Contacting us through this site, by phone, by text or by email does not make us your lawyer. Information you send before we agree to represent you may not be confidential. Please don’t send details about your case until we’ve talked.
What we collect
- What you give us. When you fill out the form on our contact page, we collect what you type: your name, phone number, email address (optional), and a short message about your situation. The form also records that you checked the two notices above the Send button. If you call or text us, we get your phone number and what you tell us.
- Spam checks. The form includes a hidden field and measures how long the form took to fill out, so we can screen out automated spam. These are not used to identify you.
- What your browser sends. Like any website, our hosting provider receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. It uses this to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
- Cookies. We don’t use advertising cookies. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set cookies needed for security and to keep the site working.
- Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate (pages viewed, the referring site, country and device type). It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.
- How you found us. When you first open one of our pages, your browser keeps a short note for that browser session only (it isn’t a cookie): the site and page you landed on, the kind of site that sent you (for example, a search engine or AI assistant), and any campaign tags in the link. If you book a consultation, that note is sent with your request and stored with your intake record in Zoho Bigin. It doesn’t include your name or contact details.
How we use it
- To answer your request and decide whether we can help.
- To schedule and remind you about consultations.
- If you hire us, to communicate with you about your case.
- To keep the site secure and working.
We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.
Who we share it with
We share information only with companies that help us run the firm, and only so they can do that work for us:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and processes form submissions.
- Zoho (Bigin) is where we keep our contact and intake records. Messages sent through the form on this site go there.
- GoTo handles our phone calls and text messages.
We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
Links to other websites
This site links to other websites, such as court and government sites and booksellers. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which this policy does not cover.
Text messages
Criminal Center LLC sends our text messages from 202-990-2500. If you text us at 202-990-2500, or check the optional box agreeing to texts on one of our website forms, we’ll text you at that number about your inquiry. Agreeing to texts isn’t required to get help. If you book a consultation, we’ll also send appointment reminders. If you become a client, we may also send case updates. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving texts, or HELP for help. See our Text Messaging Terms.
We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number or your text-message opt-in with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except the phone-service provider (GoTo) that delivers our messages.
How long we keep it
We keep inquiry records as long as we need them to respond, to check for conflicts of interest, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. Client files are kept as the rules governing lawyers require.
Security
We use reasonable safeguards, but no website, email or text system is completely secure. Please don’t send sensitive details through this site.
Children
This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.
Your choices
You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. Email help@criminalcenter.com or call 202-990-2500. To stop texts, reply STOP.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date.
